The Crags – “Frequency”

The Crags are a 5-piece indie band from Geneva, Switzerland. Sylvain on lead vocals and guitar, Oscar on bass, vocalist and guitarist Mathieu, keyboardist Philippe and Tristan on the drums. A different lineup was originally the group Drama, formed it 2004 and released an album in 2006. In 2009 after a member change, Drama became The Crags and recorded a new 12-song album in the same year. After several EP releases and years of gigging, The Crags continue their success with the release of the album “Overgrown” in September 2017, featuring the single “Frequency”.

“Frequency” begins with a tight drum pattern and airy keyboard tones. The vocals kick in with an eerie and funky attitude as the tones deepen and the songs sound grows larger and larger. The chorus is booming with harmonies and led by two strong layers of guitar chords. Melodically the song is original as they turns they take keep you guessing. The second verse returns to the emotional eerie tones with more layers of guitar picking. The instrumental sections feature a fuzzy angry leads that explode with bluesy riffs and takes the song down a dark tunnel before returning to the giant chorus pushed forward by powerful vocals and backed up by crashing drums and thoughtful bass lines.
