The Turbos are an alt-rock quartet based in Columbus, Ohio. The band started as a side project between its current members Alex D (vocals/guitar), Lucas (vocals/guitar), Cameron (bass), and Matt (drums). The name The Turbos is derived from the influence that the Columbus Rock scene had on the band. As Lucas states, “We were watching our friends put on these supercharged live rock shows, where everyone was involved and we just put all the feelings of being in those rooms into our music.” The band recently released their first EP, “Alternator.” Friday, February 16th marks the first release in a six song series scheduled for every other month of 2018. All six of the songs will be available digitally on the 3rd Friday of every even month. The first song of the series is called “’Murica”
“’Murica” is a hard hitting song that has American alt-rock sound with punk rock sensibilities. The song begins with a guitar driven giant sound and tastefully quiets down into a tight sounding verse. Lyrically, the song shows a cultural awareness and honestly expresses the observations of the band. Musically, they create a thoughtful, melodic tone while maintaining the gigantic rocking sound and intense atmosphere. It’s straightforward rock n’ roll with a conscious message behind it.
