Dead Original is a grunge infused trio based out of Chicago, Illinois started by Paul Wandtke. Wandtke got his start in the music industry as a work for hire drummer (Trivium, the musical Rock of Ages). Inspired to pick up a guitar, he now fronts Dead Original with Rob Lerner on drums and Dina Simone on bass. On May 4th Dead Original played as the support band for Korn’s Jonathan Davis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The video for their song “Fade to Light” was released in April of 2018.
“Fade to Light” begins with wailing feedback leading to a monstrous and dark drum pattern. The guitar and bass create a mean and heavy tone that matches perfectly with the heavenly vocal harmonies. The hook is punchy and energetic before going back in to a dark verse. They are very tight switching between different vibes and expressive sections of the song. Between the mellow and emotional verses and the hard hitting bounce of the chorus.
