Runaway Symphony is an indie/folk/rock group from Moscow, Idaho. The band’s lineup is rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Daniel Botkin, Chris Lowe on Lead Guitar, Jason Oliveira on Drums/Percussion, and AJ Stevens on Bass with all members handing backing vocals. They describe their music as “folk meets post-rock with vivid story-telling, saturated textures, and anthemic explosions.” In June of 2018, Runaway Symphony released a Music Video for their song “The Fall of Man”, recorded completely live in a gym and free of overdubs or edits.
“The Fall of Man” begins with string melody and is then joined by the whole band in a beautifully melancholy four chord run. The verses are driven by stylish vocals that have an emotionally mellow vibe. The firm beat gives the song bounce, working with the melodic bass line to make the sound hit. The melody shifts around to several thoughtful sections of lyric and dynamic instrumental harmonies. The band enters epic territory, escalating to a gigantic sound with crashing cymbals and thick orchestration. They dramatically drop back down to the brilliant and calm tune, leaving their listener floating before theatrically gaining steam again and really stretching out their phrases and exploring every pocket of their melody in the ending section of the song.
