High Rise Finale is a trio from the town of Barnsley, England. They are a synth driven group inspired by the electronic and indie music of the 1980’s. A lot of attention is put on the meaning and importance of the lyrics. As they put it, “The lyrics are very important to us and the backbone of all the songs, but we also wanted to have a strong electronic synth orientated back drop. A bit of a conflict in some respects. We sort of imagined a foot tapping soundtrack while crying in your hands at the meaningful words.” High Rise Finale have just released their debut 3 track single, “My Left Hand Column” consisting of the songs “There For You”, “Disarray” and the title track “My Left Hand Column”
“My Left Hand Column” begins with dreamy synth tones and a light melody before the analog inspired leads and drums kick into a reflective but groovy beat. The sound is a throwback to the vibe of 80’s movie soundtracks with the feel of a modern production. As it progresses the band continues to add elements and build upon itself into the celebratory guitar solo that sounds larger than life. The lyrics are observant and conscious of the changing world and have a quality of self-awareness. This track has the great combination of dark industrial tones you find in techno and electronica music while still remaining hopeful and bright in its words and melody.
