Dramaglider – “Loria”

Dramaglider is an eclectic alternative rock band based out of Chicago. Led by pianist and vocalist Emily Anderson, they’ve been playfully described as “Blondie and The Smashing Pumpkins’ lovechild meeting the cousins of Earth, Wind & Fire and Radiohead outside a Lilith Fair parking lot where Sade and Tori Amos are selling delicious cupcakes from the trunk of a car.” Emily is joined by guitarist Neil Klemz, Candice Latimer on backing vocals, guitarist/keyboardist Hobbes Pirakitti, and George Tsiones on bass. Together they create Dramaglider, and in October 2018 they released their self-titled 9-track album featuring the song “Loria”.

Dramaglider - Band 1

“Loria” begins with a haunting piano that sets the emotional tone. Anderson’s light and angelic vocals add a heartfelt flavor as the melody shifts around before the full band kicks in. The steady beat lays down the foundation for the melodic bass lines and thick guitar chords. The chords take interesting and dramatic turns as the tune progresses and grows in intensity and size. They achieve a sound that is both beautifully ethereal and darkly moody, blending the giant drums and distorted guitar elements of rock music with classical instrumentation and orchestration. The lyrics give it a personal touch and the vocal style glide between theatrically operatic and a quirky indie attitude. The band works to create a dynamic and epic sound that keeps this track interesting from start to finish.
